the reptilian

figured this blog has been getting a lot of attention the past few days, particularly from the female quarters. so i reckon i should continue the frivolity of this blog with one last post, after the many semesters it was created, by describing what went into it. there’s a good chance people’ve been calling it pseudo and shit. well it is. things get to you in law school.. and you get motivated to engage in frivolity and ridiculousness, thats when you’re not high on weed.. and the other things that ordinarily keep you sane. and when you’re not doing something constructive with your life like say, marathoning or fixing your bike.
some women remind me of anorexic reptiles.
so the post on ‘canes’ was inspired by house. the one on watches was inspired by an aircraft called the antonov 32, which I wanted to fly as a kid. the one on running shades by abebe bekila, who was a two time olympic marathon gold; and the one on cowboys was owing to clint eastwood and yule brynner, who’ve successfully kept me fascinated by the wild west for a couple of eons now.
right when i was beginning to forget this blog even existed.

canes are the most examplary statement of style, art and class. When I was young, I saw my 94 year old Great Grand dad use one. He was some 6+ feet tall and was a legendary figure in the city for various reasons. I believed he was going strong at that age and did’nt need one. Fact however being that he did, if I had a chance now to look at him as anything but a 6 yr old, I would’ve learnt a lot more from that personality.

at various events in life and during my subsequent education in one of the primier military establishments of the country, I developed my attachment to them. My dad once possessed a black cane with a brass handle and a crafted shaft; very lucid memories of an event with the No. 44 Squadron of the Air Force at Agra of it. I dont have a picture.

The one above was hard to find. made of rose wood, has an elephant ivory handcrafted handle. Apparently took 5 years to complete. Below is a Scrishaw monogram in ivory that accompanies the cane- not seen-.

The one just below is a simple, elgant marble handle with an ebonite shaft and a brass conjunct.

For the more cosmopolitan.

This one at the end by Boris Palatnik comes with a Sterling Silver Cast with a partially filled 24K Gold handle, Genuine White Sapphire, yellow-green Onyx and Black enamel mounted on an African Ebonite Shaft.

A fascination with cowboys began with the saga of a series of classics on the ranch.
